    ThinPrint and Linux

    Hi!

I am working on a thin client with Linux OS. I want local and network printers to work with my thin client. I tried looking for components on ThinPrint site and came across ThinPrint client. but the components are compiled using gcc 2.x or gcc 3.x. However my Thin Client uses gcc 4.x.

Can any one tell me what all infrastructure i need to put in my TC to use thin print. Basically i am new to Linux printing. Any points ?

    Thanks

    Re: ThinPrint and Linux

    Hi,

as there's no .print Client ICA or RDP available for Linux at the moment you have to stay with TCP/IP as printing protocol.
Additionally you'll need the .print Application Server Engine which is more featured then the smaller variant .print RDP Engine.

About the gcc versions - well, I don't really know if it matters for standard printing. Please just give the gcc 3.x compiled binary a try. If it starts as a daemon there shouldn't be a problem upon real printing.

Nevertheless I would recommend to contact the nearest ThinPrint Partner to have a more insight view on your environment.
