    VMware Tools & ThinPrint

    Hallo,

    Hello,
after installation of VMWare Workstation 6 we've found ThinPrint AutoConnect and the TPOG3 in the VMWare Tools folder?!
We couldn't find any statement on the ThinPrint or the VMWare website. May you please shed some light on this?

ThinPrint developed a printing solution, based on the ThinPrint Output Gateway, for ACE 2.0. You can allow the guest system to use the hosts printers via policy.
All printers available on the host system are created automatically within the guest OS based on the Thinprint OutputGateway (if a win32 guest is used) so all kinds of printers and printer connections are supported.
The VMWare Virtual printer (that's the name of the Output Gateway in VMWare) is deployed via the VMWare Tools. As there are no special ACE tools the ThinPrint solution may appear on all workstations but is functional in an ACE environment only.

    Re: VMware Tools & ThinPrint

    Hello,

we have just published a script to remove installed ThinPrint software from a virtual machine before installing a regular .print Engine.
It can be found here: http://forum.thinprint.com/cs/files/folders/tools/entry174.aspx

As the script was only tested for Windows XP x32/x64 and Windows 2003 x32/x64 find below instructions for removing the software manually.

STEPS TO REMOVE THINPRINT FROM VMWARE WORKSTATION 6

    1. DELETING PRINTER OBJECT:
Go to the Printers and Faxes folder and delete the printer  _#VmwareVirtualPrinter

    2. UNINSTALLING SERVICES:
First go to the services menu and make sure that TPautoconnect is stopped, then go to a command line and go to C:\Program Files\VMware\VMware Tools and run tpautoconnsvc –uninstall.
Go to the same directory in the windows browser and delete these two files: TPAutoConnect.exe and TPAutoConnSvc.exe
Go to the Printers and faxes folder, and under file select Server properties, go to the driver tab and delete TP Output Gateway

    3. REGEDIT:
Delete the following keys from the registry:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Print\Enviroments\Windows NT x86\Drivers\Print Processors\tpwinprn
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Print\Monitors\ThinPrint Print Port Monitor for VMWare
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ThinPrint

    4. RESTART THE IMAGE or PRINT SPOOLER

    5.DELETING FILES:
Go to C:\Program Files\VMware\VMware Tools  and delete TPOG3 subfolder completely.
    Then go to C:\WINDOWS\system32 and delete: TPSvc.dll, TPVMMon.dll, TPVMMonUI.dll and TPVMW32.dll
And finally go to C:\WINDOWS\system32\spool\prtprocs\w32x86 and delete TPwinprn.dll
