Envelope Feeder with TP v. 8

    Hello,

We have an HP LaserJet 4250n with an envelope feeder installed on it. Most of our users are currently using TP v. 7.6.56 and printing to the envelope feeder works fine over Windows Remote Desktop / Terminal Services. However, when we upgrade to v. 8.x, printing to the envelope feeder no longer functions--print jobs simply print to the regular printer tray. Further more, uninstalling v. 8 and reinstalling v. 7.6 results in the envelope feeder still no longer functioning. The uinstall of v.8 consists of performing the uninstall from Add/Remove programs on Windows XP, and removing the ThinPrint registry keys from both  HKLU and HKLM \Software\.

I have spent hours and hours trying just about every possible printer setting, preference setting, and driver combination, none successful.

I HAVE found success by performing a Windows System Restore on workstations I have attempted upgrading to v. 8. Unfortunately we have a few workstations that have already been upgraded and then downgraded many months back so performing a System Restore can't really be done on these workstations.
Printing to the envelope feeder works perfectly in any windows application--Word, Excel, etc.

It seems logical to me that there are some other registry keys or application components that the v.8 uninstaller is not deleting.

Would appreciate some help with this as our users use this envelope feeding for mass mailings and its simply not feasible for them to use the manual feed of the printer.

    Thanks!

    Hi,

    Some questions:

    1. I assume this is a network printer? it is using vlayer?
    2. Does the envelope feeder option show in the printer preferences on the Thinpritn printer within the session?
    3. What happens if you enable "Open my printing preferences" or "print preview" ->print and then change properties to use envelope feeder, does that work?

Here are the answers to your questions:

    1. Yes, this is a network printer. No, not using vlayer.
    2. No the envelope feeder does not show in the preferences within the session. The only drop down boxes available are for Paper Size and Print Quality. Side note: Page Setup shows to use Envelope #10--as it should.
    3. When Open My printing preference OR print preview are used when printing, the result is the same--it simply prints to the printer. Of course because the problem remains, the text is being printed on a normal piece of paper from tray 2 instead of using an envelope from the envelpope feeder.

Happy to work on this more. Still havent been able to solve the problem.

    Thanks in advance!

Ok. Then just to confirm -> even if you enable 'print preview' and select the envelop it still doesnt print in the correct place?

If yes, I suggest you submit a support request form and we can provide you with a newer dll that might help. This new dll has fixed issues with advanced printer properties.
