    RDP Engine 7.0 & SonicWall VPN/Net-extender

My user connect in through SonicWall Net-extender, then remote desktop into Windows 2003 servers.  Client printers do not map using the RDP 7.0 client.  Has anyone experianced the same issue?  Is there a work around/hotfix?

    Hello Allen,

We assume you installed the .print Client RDP which works when starting a standard RDP session via Microsoft Terminal Services Client (mstsc.exe).
The reason that client printers are not  mapped into the RDP session, is that the .print Client RDP is not start when using a web based RDP connection.

The web page providing the RDP link has to be modified so the .print Client RDP is loaded upon session start.
The necessary changes are described in our WhitePaper "Web installation of .print Client Windows" [0].

It is possible you have to update the firmware of your SonicWall to enable the ThinPrint Clinet RDP, please contact the manufacturer in this case.

Here is an update to what has been discovered about using the thinprint RDP client with users connecting through Sonicwall VPN:

This is known to function with the latest release of the sonicwall firmware (specific devices are unknown).

    - Make sure you have TPClnRDP.dll under C:\Windows\system32 and have
this file name in the related bookmark plugin-dlls entry.

If still have problem, try the following steps:

    1. Go to https://your_sslvpn_server/msrdp.cab

    2. Download msrdp.cab and save in your local system (such as C:\rdp)

    3. Extra msrdp.cab file.

    4. Go to command line and navigate to the extracted file location, e.g: C:\rdp\msrdp.ocx, run this command to
    register it as "regsvr32 msrdp.ocx".

5 Restart the IE browse and try again.

    6. If the above still doesn't work, go to registry by making sure the key is
point to the right file: Start->run-> regedit :

    Go to
    HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{7584c670-2274-4efb-b00b-d6aaba6d3850}\InprocSer
ver32 change the Default value from %systemroot%\system32\mstscax.dll
    to c:\rdp\msrdp.ocx .

    7. Restart the IE browse and try again.

NOTE: it is possible that you may need to upgrade the mstsc.exe to version 6.x
