I tried posting this to the how-to forum but received a message that I wasn't allowed to post, my apologies if I am in the wrong place.
I have spent a few hours installing and testing this product and like what I see so far. I would like to do some proof-of-concept for a customer that I believe can benefit considerably from the product. Naturally, we have some objectives we have to meet and having read through all the documentation I believe pertinent, I'm not left with enough confidence that I can put this in front of my client just yet. That said, specifics would be deeply appreciated...here goes...
-2 locations connected via T1
-1 dedicated print server @ main location (there are Windows PCs @ remote office that can play a role if ideal/required; any bandwidth-saving measures may be implemented here)
-farm of 3 Citrix XenApp 5 servers
-most printing is done via Citrix session printing using the dedicated print server; we have several printing policies using client IP and the user's group membership that need to be maintained
-our Citrix clients consist of WinXP, Win7 & iPads
-some Windows clients print directly to print server (occasionally)
-some users are autocreating locally attached printers that need to somehow fit into this equation
-we want to remove the array of drivers we have currently installed on the XenApp servers and better simply/centralize the printing operations
I've currently installed the .print Engine on the dedicated print server, enabled V-Layer for a printer and added that 2nd printer created as a session printer in Citrix. If this is an ideal configuration, that's at least one or part of one of the objectives met but I'm not sure if it's the most optimal nor am I clear on how to meet the remaining objectives.
Thank you in advance for your time.
