June 2009 - ThinPrint modules shipped with VMware Tools for ESX 4.0
VMware Inc. released a new version of its ESX server for VMware vSphere[
0] (ESX 4.0).
The VMware Tools provided together with ESX 4.0 also contain ThinPrint modules for "virtual printing" which may interfere with a virtual machine hosting ThinPrint's .print Engine or AutoConnect.
Preparing a new machine / cleaning the ThinPrint Modules
If you create a new machine or just upgrade the VMware Tools on a new server without ThinPrint installation, please use the script provided in the Downloads section[
1] to remove the ThinPrint modules before installing a current .print Engine. See also the article ".
print Products Installation on VMware ESX Servers".
Reconfiguring an existing machine
Updating the VMware Tools will apply the following to a ThinPrint .print installation
- new ThinPrint Output Gateway driver (v7.9)
- new ThinPrint Postscript driver (v1.0.0)
- new print port monitor (TPVMMon)
- TPAutoConnect configuration is changed
Please contact ThinPrint's Support group via
support@thinprint.com to reconfigure your .print Engine installation.
